Jagiellonian University once again ranked as best in Poland!

The Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw took joint first place in the Polish higher education institutions ranking by the Perspektywy Education Foundation “Perspektywy 2018”. It has happened for the third time since the ranking was first published 19 years ago. The third place was taken by Warsaw University of Technology.

According to the president of the Perspektywy Education Foundation Waldemar Siwiński, the ranking serves both as a guide for prospective students searching for universities best suited to their individual talents and ambitions and as a sort of mirror for the academic community, reflecting both its successes and shortcomings.

The list was topped by the University of Warsaw, which scored 100 percent, and the Jagiellonian University, which received 99.6 percent, for which they were awarded joint first place. The Warsaw University of Technology took third place with 82.8 percent. The following places were taken by the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (81.6 percent), and the AGH University of Science and Technology (78.6 percent).

The ranking is based on seven criteria: prestige (14%), academic potential (15%), academic effectiveness (20%), teaching and learning (10%), internationalisation (15%), innovation (8%), and alumni’s position on the job market (17%). The JU took first place in two of these areas: prestige and academic potential.

In the ranking of different types of higher education institutions, the Jagiellonian University Medical College took first place along with the Medical University of Gdansk.

In the accompanying ranking of study programmes, which takes into account 68 main fields of study, the Jagiellonian University won in 14 categories: Law, Administration, Chemistry, Biotechnology (Master’s programme), Biology, Environmental Protection, Nutrition and Food Studies, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health, Obstetrics, Medical Analytics, and Cosmetology.
