Practical Lesson of Diplomacy from U.S. Consul General in Krakow

How to become a diplomat and what is the specificity of this profession? IRAS and GLAD students already know the answer thanks our special guest - U.S. Consul General in Krakow Patrick T. Slowinski.

His lecture "U.S. Diplomacy in Practice - The Career Path of the U.S. Diplomat" gave students an insight into day-to-day responsibilities and challenges any diplomat must face. Patrick T. Slowinski explained that a diplomat not only forms and maintains international relations with regards to issues of peace and war, trade and economics, culture, the environment, and human rights, but also is the one who negotiate treaties and international agreements before they are officially endorsed by any politicians.

Such work requires a wide array of skills and experience, therefore good university education and practice is deeply important.

Many thanks to the U.S. Embassy Warsaw and Wydział Studiów Międzynarodowych i Politycznych UJ for helping us organize this inspiring event.
